Hosted by the Netcompany-Intrasoft, 5th General Assembly Meeting of the openZDM project took place last May 22–23 in Athens, Greece.
5th General Assembly
Driven by innovative technologies, the openZDM project aims to eliminate defects and ensure high-quality production processes. The recent 5th General Assembly marked another significant milestone, bringing together key stakeholders from 18 institutions to discuss insights from the past 2 years of the project, while charting the course towards the envisioned future of manufacturing.
openZDM platform: Driving Zero-Defect Manufacturing
The Assembly started with Nikolaos Nikolakis, the project coordinator from the Laboratory for Manufacturing Systems and Automation, delivering an inspiring speech to the entire consortium and highlighting the main projects’ achievements so far. After that, representatives from Polytechnic University of Marche, presented updates on each Non-Destructive Inspection system involved in the openZDM project. Following the initial discussions, the representative from Netcompany-Intrasoft, presented the status of the openZDMs platform architecture development, framework, design and infrastructure.
openZDM pilots: Key success factors
The second day of the openZDMs’ 5th General Assembly was dedicated to understanding the potential challenges and synergies among the five industrial pilots involved in the project. These pilots include prominent industry players: Sonae Arauco, APTIV, Vidrala, Volkswagen Autoeuropa, and VDL Weweler. The focus was on identifying common challenges and leveraging collective expertise to overcome them. Each partner delved into the specifics of their production systems, discussing unique characteristics and the best approaches to test their performance in real-life operational conditions.
The discussion continued with the coordination updates led by the Laboratory for Manufacturing Systems and Automation, while F6S concluded the 5th General Assembly by detailing the current status of the key performance indicators and highlighting the critical role of community building in increasing awareness of the openZDM project.
Conclusion: A path forward
The 5th General Assembly of the openZDM project was a testament to the collective effort and shared vision of the consortium. The journey towards zero-defect manufacturing is challenging, but with the dedication and expertise of the openZDM team, it promises to be a path that leads to remarkable achievements in the manufacturing industry.
