Pilots
openZDM aims to advance the technical capabilities of the European manufacturing industry as a whole, and concerning ZDM, and towards sustainable manufacturing. This is envisioned to be achieved through its innovative platform and solutions. There’s an existence of a technical, financial and skills gap between industrial sectors and more or less advanced areas in Europe.
Thus, the pilots have been selected in a complementary way, to implement a system for ZDM that will address the versatile needs of the European manufacturing industry, both from a geographical point of view and from a technological point of view, and finally from their positioning on the market.
The choice of each of the pilot’s partners has been done considering strategic sectors for the green transition, in particular, two energy-intensive production processes are included (glass bottles and steel suspension arms), one process-oriented to electrification (production of batteries) and one process consuming renewable materials (wood-based panels).
Melamine surfaced board manufacturing demonstrator
The main goal of the pilot is the reduction of defects which will consequently increase the throughput and decrease the production costs (…)
Vehicle body shop and final assembly demonstrator
The main goal of the pilot is the detection of the non-compliant products earlier in the production line and therefore reduction of the number of products to be aligned in later stages (…)
EV battery production demonstrator
The main goal of the pilot is to develop vision in VIS and IR range for monitoring the laser welding process (…)
Trailing arm production process demonstrator
The main goal of the pilot is to adjust the production process to deviations or abnormal patterns ensuring the production of high-quality products (…)
Bottle manufacturing demonstrator
The main goal of the pilot is to provide a significant amount of raw data of the finished bottle by using thermal imaging (…)
